High Pressure Cleaners Cut Cleaning Time and Effort
There’s nothing quite like a high pressure cleaner for peeling the grime from those really heavily soiled surfaces. The concept behind these devices is a simple enough one. Just introduce some water into a storage reservoir, subject it to pressure and then release it through a narrow nozzle as and when it is required.
The results however can be amazing and a well-designed machine is able to strip thick mud from the surface of an off road vehicle with the ease of chimpanzee peeling a banana.
The power behind high pressure cleaners is the very same power that, over millennia, eventually carved the Grand Canyon and shaped much of the planet as a whole. Today it has been harnessed for such diverse purposes as crowd control, although the water is delivered at a considerably lower pressure than that needed for the tougher cleaning jobs, and drilling precision holes in all manner of hard materials, a task that requires considerably greater compression.
For cleaning purposes, the principle is used in the design of high pressure cleaners for both domestic and industrial use. In the home, the relatively lower powered-units serve such functions as cleaning the family car or the kid’s bikes, perhaps outside wall that have become mud-splattered or garden paths and driveways while, in the garage, they can be invaluable for hosing down the floor and smartening up those oil-stained tools.
In industry, where surfaces are usually much larger and invariably far more badly-soiled than those in the home, the need is for larger and more powerful high pressure cleaners with a mechanism for heating the water and introducing a grease-cutting detergent. Kärcher, the pioneers of this technology offer models to meet all contingencies.
Wet and Dry Vacuums for Home or Factory
Actually two cleaners in one, the wet and dry vacuums were designed primarily for use in sucking up liquid spills and, prior to their introduction, all electric cleaning devices were confined to handling dry material. While clearly having a role to play in the home, the main strength of these devices lies in their industrial applications.
In the factory and plant environments, the nature of possible spillages may vary considerably. Not only are much larger volumes generally involved but the contaminating liquids are often toxic, corrosive or even inflammable; each calling for a wet and dry vacuum with its own particular properties and handling characteristics.
Industrial models are, of necessity, much larger than domestic units. They tend to require much greater liquid capacity and, when particularly large they may be too heavy to be moved manually and so require some form of motorised propulsion.
Whether used in the home or in the workplace, apart from cleaning more effectively, these units also save time and effort when compared with the demand of a manual mopping procedure. Wet and dry vacuums in the workplace are also an essential armament in the battle to preserve the health and safety of those employed in areas where hazardous substances are handles and where there is, thus, an attendant risk of spillage.
