Workplace hygiene is an exceptionally important issue, yet unfortunately it is one that is often overlooked. After all, when your concern is keeping your business running, the last thing on your mind is whether or not your employees have washed their hands before lunch. Simple hygiene practices are often ignored in the face of a fast paced life, the results of which often lead to illness, allergies and the spread of infectious diseases. So if you take cleanliness in the workplace seriously, then here are just a few good reasons why you may want to opt for hygiene dispensers in your office.

Washing hands
According to the US CDC, one in five people do not wash their hands after using the toilet. The Daily Mail estimates that out of these, 62% of them are men while 40% are women, so there is little correlation between gender and hygiene. With that little piece of information, consider how many hands you shake at work on a daily basis. No think about how many times you will touch your face, eyes, mouth and nose after that without having washed your hands yourself. Infections from contact with germs often enter the body through the eyes and nose when they are touched after contamination, so having a hand sanitiser around is a good idea, if not a crucial one.

Keyboards
Few things on this planet are filthier than your average keyboard. Overtime they collect a menagerie of skin flakes, clumps of debris, hair, dirt and many other unidentified artefacts which sit behind the keys and fester. In fact it is said that a keyboard can gather more bacteria than your average toilet seat. With that little piece of information, think of how many times your fingers have moved from your keyboard to your cup of coffee, to rub your face, pop a snack in your mouth or scratch your head; the thought is… unsavoury.

Dirty, dirty money
Depending on the nature of your business, it is likely that notes will pass the hands of a few of your employees who would likely not wash their hands after handling them. This is especially true if you hire cashiers who handle large sums of the precious paper. But tracking the movements of a single note or coin can bring up some alarming results with regards to their cleanliness. To put things in perspective, consider this: researchers from NY have identified well over 3000 different types of bacteria on a set of dollar bills. Most bacteria can survive on a note for over 48 hours, and when you consider that nobody on Earth takes the time to decontaminate their money (not launder it), one should think twice before putting their money where their mouth is.

So if you would like to limit the spread of infectious diseases from these and many other sources in the work-place, why not consider having hand sanitisers installed in and around your office.
